The City of Clearwater Cultural Affairs Division will host a display of the large format drawings of St. Petersburg College faculty artist Marjorie Greene. The works will be on exhibit at Clearwater City Hall Jan. 8 through March 31 as part of the city's Art in Public Spaces Initiative.

Student and faculty works from the Fine Arts Department at the Clearwater campus will be highlighted throughout the exhibit season at Clearwater City Hall and the Main Library.

Description: There are more than 75 members of the North Pinellas Photography Forum,
including a number of Clearwater residents.  Many have won regional awards for their work.

Uli Kampelmann's Exhibit

Description:  An exhibition of artwork by architectural glass artist and Clearwater resident Ulli Kampelmann is currently on display in the lobby of the Municipal Services Building, 110 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater.  Ms. Kampelmann gained her fame in Germany by creating public artworks that are exhibited in Berlin, Esslingen, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart.  The 12 pieces of stunning glass are on an extended generous loan by the artist.

- Art in Public Spaces features metal sculptor Clayton Swartz. As part of the City of Clearwater's Art in Public Spaces Initiative through the Clearwater Cultural Affairs Division, Swartz' works are on exhibit in the south Municipal Services Garage display cases at East Ave. and Pierce St. Swartz is best known for his monumental work at Park Station in Largo: The Heart of Pinellas, and numerous large scale marine life sculptures. His works feature an automotive finish that gives the sculpture surfaces an iridescent sheen and dynamic colors.

Artwork from the Gulf Coast Museum of Art’s Children’s Permanent Collection will be on display in the Municipal Services Building’s Corridor of the Arts. The works represent a sampling of artwork collected through the Pinellas County Schools annual art exhibit at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art and feature the talents of artists in grades K-12.

Free and open to the public during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.

PEACE MEMORIAL CONCERT SERIES            

WHENSUNDAY FEB. 14th at 3 PM

WHAT: “CELEBRATE LOVE”-- A choral concert exploring the theme of love in all its meanings and through all musical genres. This special Valentine’s Day program includes Goetze’s original composition “What a Lovely Day”, Rodgers’ My Funny Valentine, Diemer‘s Three Madrigals, Presley’s Love Me Tender, Mancini’s Sometimes, Woods’ Side By Side, Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria, and Rutter’s O Clap Your Hands for ensemble and organ. Come hear these lovely songs and more in the great acoustics of the Peace Church sanctuary.

WHO: CHORAL ESSENCE ENSEMBLE is a select and versatile Tampa Bay vocal group. Twenty two (22) voices strong, this group is accompanied by Rita Rostron and performs under the baton of Arthur Goetze, long time director of the renowned Clearwater Community Chorus.

CHARGE: No tickets needed and seating is first come, first served. An offering will be taken ($5 minimum suggested donation). Doors open at 2:30.

RECEPTION: After the concert, there is a light reception in the fellowship hall so you can meet, greet and thank the musicians.

Ruth Eckerd Hall has invited TESA, The Exhibiting Society of Artists, to present a variety of art by local, national and international artists in the East and West Galleries at Ruth Eckerd Hall through Feb. 28, 2010.

TESA, founded by Marlene Tenorio in 1999, is a Tampa Bay based art group of nearly fifty members, all dedicated to producing and exhibiting professional quality art to the people of the Tampa Bay area.

The group currently holds five major art exhibitions each year at many art centers, libraries and city halls. In addition, TESA has presented exhibits at other well known landmarks such as the Safety Harbor Spa and Resort, Raymond James Financial, Syd Entel Gallery and The Leppa-Rattner Museum of Art.

TESA was the first art group to hold a major exhibition at Ruth Eckerd Hall in 2004.

The exhibit is open during show performance times and admission is available to those with a mainstage performance ticket.

ARTIST'S FREE CRITIQUE:  FEBRUARY 16, 2010 at 10 a.m....
Studio 1212 offers a free critique the third Tuesday of every month.  We invite all artists to bring in one or two unframed, unfinished paintings to be critiqued.   
    
Studio 1212 was founded in October 1970 by former students of William Pachner and is the oldest artist cooperative in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

The purpose of Studio 1212 is to provide the opportunity to associate with other artists on an informal  basis; also, to promote group discussions, exhibit work as a group, support open workshops and information exchange regarding the arts. In addition, we endeavor to sponsor art education in our community.

 Join the studio artists for refreshments, conversation and a show of contemporary artwork in a variety of media including pottery and jewelry. Studio 1212 is the oldest art cooperative in the area, formed originally by students of William Pachner. The show opens Sunday 2/7, 1 – 5 pm and runs through 3/13.

 The studio is open to the public on Wednesdays and by appointment. Studio 1212 is located at 1405 Cleveland St, Clearwater. (727)446-4566.

Leading us in this series is Lorraine Potocki who started her own business, Florida Pastels LLC in February 2008. Her unique experience of working in a business environment for many years prior to her art career will help guide participants in their goal of making art their career.

The Florida Holocaust Museum oresents journalist/human rights activist Lisa Ling as the keynote speaker at the Museum's annual benefit, To Life:  Shining Light on a Better World, on Thurs., February 11, 2010 at 6 p.m.  For the first time, the event will be at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts - The Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg.

The To Life event has a new format that includes cocktails, Dinner-by-the-Bite, desserts and coffee.  Also planned are a silent auction offering luxury travel packages, dining opportunities, upscale merchandise and services, and a chance drawing for a prestigious Mediterranean cruise for two.  Entertainment during the dinner hour will be provided by Transitions featuring Mitchell Lowenstein, and violinist Mr. Oleg Geyer.

Following dinner, attendees will be seated in the auditorium to hear Lisa Ling speak on human rights.

Proceeds from the To Life:  Shining Light on a Better World event will benefit education, exhibitions and public programming at the Florida Holocaust Museum.

  The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art

Unveils a

Premiere Exhibition

The Visionary World of Vladimir Yoffe

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art will feature a premiere exhibition from the permanent collection - The Visionary World of Vladimir Yoffe. The exhibit will open on Dec. 6, 2009 and will remain on view in the Rattner: Contemporaries Gallery through April 25, 2010.

The exhibition is staged as a reconstruction of Yoffe’s studio. The show consists of eleven sculptures created in various media such as stone, metal, wood and terra cotta. 

Yoffe, an expressionist sculptor and Russian émigré, spent most of his career in New York City before retiring to New Port Richey, FL in 1977. In the 1930s he worked at the Works Progress Administration and taught at The Laboratory School of Industrial Design.
